STFBC Files Medical Malpractice Suit for “Horrific” Delivery Procedure

|

Stewart Tilghman Fox Bianchi & Cain has filed a lawsuit against West Boca Medical Center for causing a woman, Kimberly Nathan, to suffer massive blood loss and organ failure during a delivery procedure. The incident occurred on January 22, 2022, leaving Kimberly with debilitating injuries—including severe chronic kidney disease and cognitive deficits.

During the delivery procedure, Kimberly expressed that she felt lightheaded. Immediately upon delivery, her blood pressure dropped, and the delivery team spent 30 minutes trying to identify the source of the bleeding. After more than an hour, the delivery team transferred her to the OR, where surgeons found a "posterior cervical laceration" that took five hours to repair. Kimberly was not given replacement blood until two hours after her initial blood loss. All told, Ms. Nathan’s blood loss amounted to 5.7 liters. Due to blood loss, Kimberly suffered multi-system organ failure, debilitating injuries, cognitive deficits, and stage 4 chronic kidney disease.

Kimberly's injuries are severe and will have long-term consequences for her life, which are a result of the negligent care she received at West Boca Medical Center.

Gary Fox of STFBC is representing Kimberly Nathan in this lawsuit. The medical center must be held accountable for its care and the harm caused to Kimberly. We believe that the staff at West Boca Medical Center was responsible for Kimberly's injuries and that the medical center itself needs to be held accountable for its negligence. We will work tirelessly to get Kimberly everything she needs to recover from this traumatic event.
