How Best Law Firms Ranked STFBC Among Other Law Firms
"Best Law Firms" is a tiered list compiled from the same team behind the Best Lawyers list, so they use a similar methodology. "Best Law Firms" honorees are chosen from lawyers who are included in the latest edition of Best Lawyers. Each firm's clients and colleagues fill out questionnaires about a firm's cost-effectiveness, attentiveness to client needs, and whether a client would refer someone to the law firm. Other lawyers are asked whether a law firm possesses the necessary expertise, whether they would refer a client to the firm, and whether the firm was a worthy competitor. Researchers also consider a firm's case history and other indicators of strength.
Combined with more than 7.4 million evaluations from the Best Lawyers survey, U.S. News and Best Lawyers researchers convert all of a firm's qualitative and quantitative data into a single score. Each score is then compared with other law firms across 188 metropolitan areas and between 75 and 122 practice areas. Top-scoring law firms are given a Tier 1 ranking, the second group a Tier 2 ranking, and so on. The resulting list is a ranked list of the leading law firms in every major metropolitan area and practice area across the United States.
